Audeamus Honors Journal

About Audeamus
How do we dare?
Audeamus was started in 2007 at UC Riverside as a multi-disciplinary journal for undergraduate honors students across the UC system. The idea started with the belief that students should be able to showcase any work that was of the highest merit, no matter what it was. There are so many academic journals and literary magazines out there, but not as many places where anything could be published—anything reproducible on paper, that is.
Audeamus has since published 5 journals (and counting!) filled with an eclectic array of works from honors students within the UC schools. Flipping through the pages of any issue, you can find an organic chemistry research paper right next to a literary analysis, and just down the table of contents, you’ll find some photography and a biology paper.
The world is a fairly eclectic place, so why not our journal? That’s what our name means: Let us dare. Let us dare to publish a journal that is as varied as the world is.
Do You Dare?
Audeamus is currently putting together its 2012-2013 issue and will be seeking submissions starting on Wednesday October 31, 2012 to January 11, 2013. To be eligible to submit, students are required to:
- Be a CURRENT undergraduate student enrolled (full time or part time) at a UC school (UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, UC Santa Cruz) *UCSF is not included as it is a graduate school;
- Students who just graduated (in the 2011-2012 academic year) from the UC schools listed above are eligible to apply for this year's journal if they have, for example, a senior thesis paper/project they completed upon graduation and would like to submit this piece to the journal. Entries from students who graduated further back than the previous academic year are not accepted.
- Be enrolled in a UC Honors program or department, OR be a member of an honors society, group, organization, etc. within the UC system.
- If you are not sure if your Honors program/society/organization qualifies, please email Scott Silverman at scott.silverman@ucr.edu
Generally, we accept journalism, memoirs, short stories, novel excerpts, scientific articles, other research, photos, digital art, and anything else you can think of that is reproducible on paper.
