University Honors
University Honors at UC Riverside is a community of high achieving, passionate students who strive to reach their fullest potential while contributing to the world. University Honors connects the brightest of UCR students with the top professors at UCR for research, focus driven classes, and individual projects. Honors students have gone on to work in many areas, including politics, environmental research, publishing, teaching, the Peace Corps, and medical fields.
Honors students consistently contribute to the community through established charities, smaller non-profit organizations, relevant research, and student organized and run service events.
University Honors allows motivated students to come together and support each other. The University Honors office, on the second floor of Olmsted Hall, is open for honors students to come in, relax, and take a break from the stresses of the university.
Applications to University Honors are now closed for 2011-2012. Please check back in January for application information.
Honors — Learn the difference
In high school, honors usually meant A.P. classes and advanced subjects. High school honors is usually described as being heavily competitive and oriented on taking the best set of classes that can get you into the best college possible.
University Honors at UCR is different. Honors classes are smaller and more specialized than regular college classes, but usually far more enjoyable for both the students and the professors. University Honors is focused more on becoming a well rounded, successful person than just grades.
