Hello! My name is Hugo Arcos, and I am currently a fourth-year global studies major. I joined University Honors my first year of college and am going into my third year as an Honors Ambassador! After UCR, I intend to pursue a career in medicine. I'd like to start by becoming a travel labor-and-delivery nurse. After some years, it'd be great to go to medical school to become an OB/GYN! Eventually, it would be awesome if I could open my own clinic and teach at a college. In any case, I do intend to give back to my community through scholarships and by remaining active in volunteer work. University Honors has allowed me to meet great people, become a better person, and remain ambitious in my goals. I hope to help you in your path! Quick fun fact: I own a Corgi and Chihuahua mix named Chamako!

I am currently a sophomore and joined University Honors as a freshman. I was born in Philippines and immigrated to California at the age of eight. Since then, I have primarily resided in Southern California. I am an undocumented immigrant, the eldest on both sides of my family, and the first to pursue higher education. My fascination with human behavior and its effect on society made me realize that I enjoy philosophy and psychology. My interests in my professional career are either teaching/researching or pursuing immigration law. Also, I enjoy traveling and, as much as possible, engaging with nature (typically the beach). I also wish to travel around the world, explicitly visiting France and Italy!

My name is Luis Chun. I'm a fourth-year English major pursuing a career in education. With my experience in the classroom, I'd like to develop a company focused on connecting educators with tools and platforms that can enhance the classroom experience. I am incredibly blessed to be representing University Honors as an Ambassador. University Honors has been one of the best parts about my college experience because it has connected me to truly caring staff, faculty, and students. Through tough times, the University Honors network has motivated me to keep going and to do my best. I am inspired by University Honors students, and I know that no matter what challenges pop up, I come out a better person because of these connections. I enjoy conversations about life, technology, and brands/companies. I'm interested in the way things come together and how seemingly unrelated topics merge to create impactful ideas.

Hello, my name is Yomna Elkereamy, I'm a third-year biology major! Joining University Honors has provided me with many academic and social opportunities. Having spent the majority of my childhood jumping form country to country, creating long-lasting relations with others in this program is the best feeling. This program has taken me on a wonderful journey, allowing me to discover more about my personality and meeting amazing people on the way. Having formed bonds with many inspiring and motivating students, faculty, and staff in University Honors, I decided to start working towards my dream of becoming an orthodontist by joining the Future Dentist Club, Global Dental Brigade, volunteering at the Riverside Free Clinic, and joining a research lab on campus! Outside of all this, I love spending time with my friends exploring the outdoors or getting a taste of different cultures. Can't wait to meet you!

Hello! I am a fourth-year English major, who primarily focuses on twentieth-century queer literature and media and cultural studies. As a reader, I would describe myself as someone who reads broadly and critically. My favorite authors are James Baldwin, Audre Lorde, Gillian Flynn, Dame Daphne du Maurier, and Mohsin Hamid. I have been a passionate and avid reader since elementary school. Although the majority of my interests are rooted in the humanities, I am deeply interested in ecological and geological sciences. Oceanography, in particular, absolutely fascinates me, especially since 70% of the world is covered by the ocean. Outside of academia, I love all kinds of tea, baking breads, and playing video games.

Hi! My name is Jasmine Kazemi-Gwizdala, and I am a fourth-year neuroscience student! I joined University Honors as a first-year student and was introduced to a myriad of influential experiences that I truly do not believe I could have attained without being active in University Honors. I aspire to attend medical school, with the ambition to advocate for vulnerable, disadvantaged populations to attain medical assistance. I love to go to the beach (Dog beaches are my favorite!), visit museums and national parks, and the occasional Netflix binge-watch. As a first-generation American student, I understand the struggles that college may throw at students, so please do not hesitate to reach out and seek advice or guidance!
