Interested faculty members are invited to teach the following courses in University Honors:

Honors Elective: An honors elective is a standard course, but the discussion section is taught by the professor of the course, as opposed to a teaching assistant. Teaching an honors elective provides an opportunity for a faculty member to expand on the lecture content with additional depth and student engagement.

Ignition Seminar: An Ignition Seminar is an opportunity for a faculty member to teach a topic of their choosing in a small-class environment. Taught from an interdisciplinary perspective, the course helps students begin their UCR experience by igniting their curiosity for scholarship.

Only full-time faculty members (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Full Professor, Assistant Professor of Teaching, Associate Professor of Teaching, Full Professor of Teaching, or Cooperative Extension Specialist) are eligible for these opportunities. 

All University Honors students are required to conduct faculty-mentored research, which culminates in a capstone project. Faculty-mentors guide students through the process by conducting regular meetings to check progress, referring students to applicable campus resources, providing constructive feedback throughout the process, and encouraging professional development.

Only full-time faculty members (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Full Professor, Assistant Professor of Teaching, Associate Professor of Teaching, Full Professor of Teaching, or Cooperative Extension Specialist) are eligible for these opportunities. 

University Honors currently offers two opportunities for faculty members to contribute to the direction of University Honors.

Faculty Fellow: Faculty Fellows contribute to the University Honors community by engaging with students, offering co-curricular experiences (such as field trips), and teaching small sections of University Honors courses.

Faculty-in-Residence: Faculty-in-residence provide programming and resources to students in the living-learning communities in Pentland Hills and Glen Mor.

Only full-time faculty members (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Full Professor, Assistant Professor of Teaching, Associate Professor of Teaching, Full Professor of Teaching, or Cooperative Extension Specialist) are eligible for these opportunities.
